Stop Teeth Grinding and Start Protecting Your Smile

stop teeth grinding

Bruxism is a tooth grinding condition wherein an individual grinds or clenches their teeth unconsciously.  This can occur during the day or at night and is often related to stress.  Over time, tooth grinding can damage the mouth, gums, jaw and teeth.

If you suspect you are experiencing bruxism, it is helpful to check for its symptoms, especially upon awakening.  Symptoms include a dull headache, sore jaw, sensitivity to heat or cold, inflammation of the gums, and open sores on the inside of the cheeks from biting.  You should also visit your dentist as they can examine your mouth and jaw for signs of bruxism and offer treatments to help combat the condition.
